Ed Trost
Ed Trost is Vice President of Business Development at Cultural Synergies. He has recently been involved in developing the e-learning division. He has a total of thirty years of professional experience, spanning sales, marketing, executive coaching, account management and sales/customer service training systems. He has consulted with a variety of companies, primarily in the hospitality, golf and health/fitness arenas, over the past two and a half years.

Ed holds a Ph.D. in Education from UC Berkeley. He taught Sociology of Sport at San Jose State University as an Assistant Professor before leaving academia in 1980 to pursue a career in business. Previously, Ed was Regional Sales Manager for Learning International (formerly Xerox Learning Systems, now Achieve Global). He consulted with Fortune 500 companies to assist them in enhancing their sales and customer service organizations. From 1994-1996, Ed managed the Melbourne Australia operation for the Australian distributor of Learning International. He has also previously been VP of Sales for American Golf Corporation. He is now based in California.


Vince Amato
Vince Amato assists with program design and is also involved in developing the e-learning division at Cultural Synergies. He is an international business consultant in the fields of diversity training, corporate communications, professional development, writing, program design, case-based and experiential learning, multimedia and e-learning. He has developed proprietary developmental programs in the areas of Negotiation & Sales Skills, Coaching, Customer Service, Telemarketing and Personnel Evaluation, using unique immersion experience methodology and real life case studies. Vince has worked with a wide range of industries, including petrochemicals/utilities, technology, education, banking, automotive and media/communication. He is currently based in the US.


Lisa Taliga
Lisa is originally from London and emigrated to Melbourne, Australia in 1998. She assists with all facets of business support for Cultural Synergies. She has over eleven years of corporate experience in the UK, Germany and Australia as a Senior Executive Assistant in Investment Banking, Executive Recruitment and International Sales. She holds a BA (Hons) Degree in European Business Administration with German, having studied in London and Germany. Lisa has also travelled and worked in the Middle East, Asia and the US.


Fiona Williams
Fiona looks after all financial aspects of Cultural Synergies. She has worked as an accountant for the past 25 years and has extensive experience in private industry and public practice. She is currently studying for her CPA and Diploma in Financial Planning.


Yoshie Nishimura-Weaver
Yoshie, originally from Osaka, has lived in Australia since 1989 and has worked extensively in Japanese-Australian environments. She spent three years at Cable Beach Resort in Broome, Western Australia, where she was the Japanese liaison officer involved in training staff in Japanese culture and language for tourists.

Yoshie ran the Melbourne Kumon Study Centre, a Japanese education program for two years. The program helps people of all ages master skills in English, Japanese and maths. Yoshie currently works as a Japanese/English translator and tutor and is based in Melbourne.


Valerie Haugen
Valerie has a strong interest in cross cultural education and conflict resolution, and has been involved in extensive international curriculum planning, writing and development in first and third world countries.

Valerie has lived and worked in Vietnam, Pakistan, Philippines, Romania, the United States and the United Kingdom. Recently she has worked in Pakistan, Ghana, India, Cambodia, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Egypt and Guinea.

Valerie has a Doctorate in Education from the University of Massachusetts, USA, a Masters Degree in Second Languages and Cultures Education, and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Classics. Valerie speaks German and conversational Vietnamese and is currently based in Sydney.


Duncan Smith
Duncan is one of Australia's most experienced consultants in valuing and managing diversity and has worked for more than twenty years in the United States, Western Europe and Australia.

Duncan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion from Trinity College (U.S.A.), and a Master of Education degree from Harvard University. He has published articles on diversity and is an accredited administrator of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator.

Duncan is involved in the globalisation of commerce and the development of an equitable global society. He focuses on the impact of national, organisational and personal culture on successful work practice, and assists people and organisations to create effective and rewarding working relationships. Duncan is based in Melbourne.


Mike Street
Mike is a Registered Psychologist and Human Resources Development practitioner with over 25 years experience. His work focuses on individuals and groups of successful professionals to improve group dynamics and interpersonal skills.

Mike has worked in a variety of industries including Defence, Automotive, Tertiary Education, and Manufacturing. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Media Studies from Swinburne University, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Psychology from Victoria University, and a Master of Arts in Psychoanalytic Studies at Deakin University.

Mike's wide-ranging background enables him to work effectively with groups of individuals from the shop floor to the boardroom. He helps participants improve their working relationships, increase their performance both at work and at home, and expand their ability to manage difficult situations. Mike is based in Melbourne.


Sean Xu
Sean has extensive cross cultural marketing and public relations experience within academia and the corporate sector. He is passionate about working with individuals from different cultural backgrounds and has excellent Chinese translation and interpreting skills.

His diverse experience includes promoting and developing the Asian market by establishing and maintaining effective communication lines with various business and academic leaders, as well as preparing news releases for both Chinese and English newspapers.

Sean is currently employed as a Lecturer (Chinese) and International Students Association Co-ordinator at La Trobe University in Melbourne. Born in China, Sean arrived in Australia in 1993. He holds a Graduate Diploma in Business Consulting, a Masters Degree in Sports Management, and a Bachelor of Education in Physical Education.


Anu Guttman
Anu has recently been involved in delivering a range of Cultural Synergies programs in the Asia Pacific region. She speaks a number of languages and is an enthusiastic and energetic presenter.

Anu holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) in America and currently works globally as a freelance trainer. Previously, Anu was Project Manager for IT Implementation at the Public Bank, Malaysia, and then worked as an IT Consultant for PeopleSoft, Singapore. Anu is based in Kuala Lumpur and Dubai.
